Gilbert & Goode are proud to celebrate the completion of a new affordable housing development in Troon, delivered in partnership with LiveWest and supported by more than £3m of funding from Homes England.

The scheme provides 30 EPC-A rated homes, helping address the need for high quality and secure housing for residents in Cornwall.

Sue Warwick, Managing Director for Gilbert & Goode, said: “Cornwall faces a real housing challenge, and we’re proud to play our part by building high-quality homes that provide local people with the security they deserve.”

The development has drawn wider support from local representatives, reflecting it’s importance in addressing the region’s housing needs.

Speaking at the development’s open day, Perran Moon, MP for Camborne and Redruth, praised Gilbert and Goode’s role in confronting the crisis: “This is exactly the sort of thing we need across Cornwall to help deal with the housing crisis.”

Sustainability has been a key element in the design and construction of these homes in Troon, ensuring long-term efficiency and lower running costs for residents. Each property has achieved an EPC rating of A, incorporating solar PV panels, air source heat pumps, and EV charging points.

Reflecting on the scheme during his visit, Perran Moon MP highlighted the importance of schemes like this in shaping Cornwall’s energy-efficient future: “These A rated homes are exactly where we need to be. Solar panels that are reducing those absolutely vital bills and helping with climate change and protecting the environment.”

This development showcases the importance of collaboration between housing associations, local authorities, housebuilders, and national agencies.

Speaking about the importance of partnership working, Shahi Islam, Director of Affordable Housing Grants at Homes England, said: “This fully affordable housing development is a prime example of how we work collaboratively with partners, through the Affordable Homes Programme, to achieve our mission to build thriving, new communities that people can be proud to call home.”

This project reflects Gilbert & Goode’s ongoing commitment to delivering homes that not only meet immediate housing needs but also support sustainable, well-connected communities across Cornwall.
